Good news for BMW enthusiasts as now they can see the official images and get details about the M-induced 1-Series hatch, labeled as the M135i. The first BMW M Performance Automobile with a petrol engine is the BMW M135i. Earlier this year the model was originally previewed in concept form and now has moved to full production. The company has also released the first video of BMW M135i to provide you detailed info about the car. Take a look at both, the three and five-door versions of the car in this film. Unlike other small hatchback and like the earlier 1 Series, the M135i will be rear-wheel drive, and even accessible with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive. This move for M is very strange, which has been connubial to rear-wheel drive since time immemorial.
All ingredients of a complete M car are included in the M135i. The new high performance variant (M135i) is powered by a 3.0-liter, straight 6-cylinder engine that pumps 320PS (235kW/315hp) and 450Nm (332lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. It lets the M135i to speed up from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in only 4.9 seconds prior to arrive at an electronically limited top speed of 250kph (155mph). The technology package consists of direct High Precision Injection with central multi-hole injectors, VALVETRONIC variable valve control, Double VANOS variable camshaft timing and a TwinScroll turbocharger.
When talking about the exterior, the BMW M135i Concept features a body kit that shares the appearance of the other M models with a hostile front fascia sporting big air intakes to feed the high performance engine. No doubt, new car will be fun to drive, however it might not match up with the original M-tuned 1 Series. This year the M135i will debut in Europe and the company has no plans until now to bring the M Performance hatchback to the U.S. The question arises – will the M135i be a pure driver’s car, or will it be only a small car with a big engine and a little M badges?
