No doubt, as a worldwide two-wheeler manufacturer, Suzuki requires a little introduction. But when it comes to the Indian motorcycle market, there is no need of any introduction because the market is extensively dominated by Suzuki’s high-powered two-wheelers such as the GSXR 1000 and the legendary Hayabusa. And now, Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited (SMIL) took one step forward and launched a new bike named ‘Suzuki Hayate 112CC’ in the commuter segment. Hayate is a Japanese word, which translates in to ‘swift wind’ or ‘fresh breeze’. Suzuki Hayate 112CC was debuted firstly at New Delhi Auto Expo-2012 along with Suzuki Swish 125cc scooter. This latest entry of Suzuki got a lot of attention at the Auto Expo -2012, thanks to its attractive design, specification and price.

This commuter motorcycle is packed with an 112.8cc 4 stroke air-cooled engine which comes equipped with a 4 speed transmission. It has a capacity of delivering 8.8Nm of peak torque and 8.4PS of max power. Packing an 8 liter fuel tank in the Hayate, SMIL claims that it will offer a class-leading fuel-economy figure. It is anticipated to give an average of more than 60kmpl.
The bike comes equipped with front and rear drum brakes, and aluminum cast wheels. The form factor of this latest entry looks appealing, owing to the stylish rear lights, new-age fender, and an aggressive headlight. The appealing look of this latest bike along with its proposed comfort and efficiency levels will represent a considerable hunk of the commuter segment in country’s two-wheeler market.
It is a budget-friendly bike which is available in the market in 2 variants: the kick start variant and the self start variant. The price tag for the kick start (KS) variant is Rs 40,162 and for the self start (SS) variant is Rs 42,162. Suzuki is offering this latest bike in five different colour shades: Metallic lush green, Pearl mica red, GL sparkle black, Pearl mirage white and Metallic flint grey.
The company is anticipating to trade 10,000 units of Hayate 112CC every month. This target should not be tricky because Suzuki has appointed the Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, as a new brand ambassador for promoting this bike across the country.
The Sales and Marketing Vice President of SMIL, Mr Atul Gupta, said at the launch of this bike that ‘the 100-110 cc two-wheeler arena is a hopeful market with remarkable growth potential and with the entry of Hayate, the company aims to explore new prospects and to behold a higher market share in the two-wheeler arena’. Launch of this latest commuter motorcycle is a hope to deal with the rising markets in small town clusters, semi-urban peripheries and even rural peripheries, where customers want a bike with good mileage for daily commute.
