The specifications of the upcoming Windows 8 tablet, ThinkPad Tablet 2 have been leaked online. The ThinkPad Tablet 2 would be the first tablet from Lenevo that will run on the latest Windows 8 Operating System. Earlier, Lenevo had showcased a model of Windows 8 tablet at the Computex event held in June. Now with leaked specs, it seems that Lenevo is almost ready for the launch of ThinkPad Tablet 2 in the market. Moreover, just few days back the tablet has even passed through FCC, which is giving a clear hint that the tablet would be released in coming few days or months. There is no official info about the price and the exact launch date of ThinkPad Tablet 2 yet, but most likely it will be launched soon after the official release of Windows 8 OS which is scheduled to take place on 26th of October 2012.

The leaked specs claim that the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is purely targeted for business users. If the leaked specs come out to be true then definitely this tablet will be a great choice over Apple’s iPad and other forthcoming Windows 8 tablets. One of the slides that contains the specs of the tablet has unveiled an interesting comparison between the ThinkPad Tablet 2 and Apple’s iPad. Certainly, iPad is a true winner in terms of screen quality but the Lenevo tablet will feature more powerful hardware compared to the iPad. Although, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 would be slightly thicker than the iPad, the weight of the device would be same for both, i.e. 650 grams.
The device will measure 262.6 x 164 x 9.8 mm in dimension. It will have an IPS LED screen of 10.1 inch with 10 finger multi touch and 1366 x 768 pixels of resolution. Under the hood, the tablet will have the latest and powerful dual-core Intel Clover Trail Processor. There will be an optional keyboard docking station that can transform the tablet into a laptop. Plus, there will be a pen stylus for sketching and handwriting. One of the most attractive leaked features of the tablet is its battery life. Lenevo is claiming of more than 10 hours of battery life, which sounds really impressive.
The ThinkPad Tablet 2 will be a dual camera device, with a rear camera of 8 MP with 1080p recording abilities and a front camera of 2 MP to support video conference. Both cameras will feature LED flash facility. Twin 1 watt speakers accompanied by a dual microphone array with digital noise reduction are also expected prominent features of the tablet. Along with 2 GB of RAM, the tablet will offer 64 GB of storage capacity with the help of a microSD card.
Other leaked features include NFC capability, an optional security enabled fingerprint scanner, MicroSD, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, HSPA+/LTE connectivity, a mini-HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphones / microphone combo jack, GPS, a digital compass, a vibration motor, an ambient light sensor, physical volume control, a rotation-lock switch, etc. With all these features, it looks like this business oriented tablet will also entice even non-business people to buy this smart Windows 8 tablet. Lastly, let’s hope that the upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 would arrive in market for a relatively affordable price so that every tablet lover can buy it effortlessly.
