Recently Toshiba announced a new tablet called the AT300. At a thickness of 8.9mm, the new model is slender as compared to its predecessor Toshiba AT200. With squared-off sides, it provides plenty of space for its ports including a full-sized SD card slot. The 10.1 inch LED backlit display has 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass to make it scratch and break proof. The tablet works on a simple holographic user interface and has up to five customizable home screens. The tab has an elegant and sturdy aluminium body. AT300 measures 260.6 x 178.9 x 8.95 mm and weighs 590g.

The screen supports 10-finger multitouch input. The tab runs an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and comes packed with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The device has 1GB of RAM and is available with 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, and SD card slot. Memory can be expanded up to 64 GB via a memory card. The battery of Toshiba AT300 lasts for 10 hours of video play, or up to 12 hours if used for 10 percent audio playback (with the screen off), 10 percent video playback, 60 percent web browsing over WiFi and the rest of the time in standby mode.
The rear camera is 5 megapixels and the front camera is 2 megapixels. The rear camera can record videos and the front camera supports video calling. The tablet is equipped with integrated stereo speakers and a micro HDMI output. The full-size SD card slot supports up to 64 GB cards and the tablet also has optional 3G. The speakers use sound enhancement technology developed by Toshiba and SRS Labs. The micro HDMI connection enables video playback web content and games on a TV. It has full access to the Google Play store hence providing access to more than 500,000 games and apps, as well as eBooks and movie rentals, all from just a tap of a screen.
The AT300 includes a full set of popular Google applications including Google Play, YouTube and Google Maps. Moreover, a useful mix of Toshiba software and third-party applications such as Toshiba Places, offering fast and convenient access to millions of music, movie and e-book downloads comes pre-loaded with the AT300. AT300 will be out in the stores in the second quarter of 2012. The price of the device is yet to be confirmed.
