After the huge success of the Call of Duty Black Ops, Treyarch has come with a sequel of it named Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The two-and-a-half minute official trailer has been revealed, which confirmed the release date of the game. According to the revealed trailer, the game will release on 13th November, 2012 for platforms like Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and PS3. The game is available for pre-order at a price of $59.99. Black Ops 2 is set between two different time periods: the Cold War of the 1980s and 21st Century Cold War that will take place in 2025. This game is the Call of Duty franchise’s first game to include fully futuristic setting and future warfare technology.
Sgt. Frank Woods, Jason Hudson and Alex Mason are also returning element along with the Cold War theme in Black Ops 2. The 95 years old, Frank Woods is in a wheelchair and kept in “The Vault”. He is the narrator in the game, explaining what took place in the 80s at the time of mission with Alex Mason and why it is important in the game’s present. The main hero and villain of the game are David Mason (the son of Alex Mason) and Raul Menendez, respectively. Raul Menendez captures the US’s Military drones & robotic equipment and turns them against America. A fleet of drones will cause destruction to buildings in downtown Los Angeles.
One more character of the game is Harper, which will escort David Mason in the 2025 segment. You will play the role of Alex Mason in 80′s timeline and David Mason in 2025. In the game, a second Cold War is going to happen between China and the US as the China bans the export of rare earth elements. China has 95% of rare earth materials, which are used to create electronic devices and military weapons. The game will have “Strike Force” missions for single-player and the players are able to participate in any mission. All the missions work as a small sandbox battlefield. Strike Force missions lets the players to control armed land-drones as well as armed and unarmed aerial drones.
Occasionally, there are also multiple missions in the year 2025 but the player can select any one. If the player dies on a Strike Force mission, he is going to die in the story. The Black Ops 2 campaign will change according to the achievement or failure of these missions. Black Ops 2 will have one female character named Anderson. She will be a pilot who flies a high-tech VTOL aircraft. In this game, future tech will play an important role. Players will have a smart-device on their wrist to control armed quadrocopters, VTOL (vertical-take-off-and-lift) planes, and other drones.
The CLAW (Cognitive Land Assault Weapon) is an unmanned tank in the game. In the 1980′s timeline, you will see horses and horseback-riding. There are also Tiltjet plane and quadrotor. Players can grab a sniper rifle that uses millimeter wave technology to see through walls and highlight enemy weaponry. There are two maps: a naturalistic map and a map known as Aftermath in the game. Just like original Black Ops, Black Ops 2 will also have Zombies mode. The Zombies mode will be offered under the multiplayer engine. Compared to original game, Black Ops 2 has better 3D graphics on consoles but runs on the same engine (60 frames per second).
