Research In Motion, the Blackberry maker, is about to launch some budget-friendly smartphones in the coming months of this year. RIM is expected to unveil two handsets namely the BlackBerry Curve 9220 and 9320 during the second quarter of the year. At present, there is no information about their official releasing dates. However, the BlackBerry Curve 9220′s image has been leaked much before its official launch. As of now there is no word yet for its price, but it is expected to be available in the price range of Rs. 9,000.

Besides the mere appearance of the Curve 9220, Flipkart an Indian mobile retailer, has listed the entire specifications list of the phone. The Flipkart has kept ‘Coming Soon’ label, which gives a hint to Indian Blackberry lovers that the handset will be made available soon in India. Again, all these information are based on rumors. So, let’s wait for some official announcement from RIM for their new handsets.
Now we will see some of the leaked specs of the upcoming BlackBerry Curve 9220. Firstly, the Curve 9220 will run on BlackBerry 7.1 Operating System. It will be a single-SIM phone having a dimension of 60x109x12.7mm. Even though there is no information regarding the smartphone’s processor, it is expected to have 512 MB of internal memory. There might be a microSD card slot to expand the memory capacity of up to 32GB.
The device will sport a small 2.44-inch TFT display with a QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Like other Blackberry devices, Curve 9220 will also feature a QWERTY keypad. It will feature a 2 megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom, LED Flash, Fixed Focus, Geo-Tagging and Video recording facility. It will have a Wi-Fi connectivity for internet surfing, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP for sharing files and EDGE connectivity. Unlike other Blackberry devices, Curve 9220 will arrive with FM radio for entertainment purpose.
Other expected specifications include Proximity Sensor, Digital Compass MMS Enabled, Optical Trackpad, Predictive Text Input, Instant Messaging, Organizer, Accelerometer, music player (supporting formats: MP3, WMA, eAAC+, WAV), video player (supporting formats: MP4, WMV, H.263, H.264), and 3.5mm Audio Jack. It will be backed up with a standard Li-ion battery. The handset will arrive with a 1 year warranty and a 6 months warranty for the accessories.
