Keeping this in mind, Doro – a Swedish telecom company has especially designed a smartphone Doro PhoneEasy 740 for senior citizens. The company has been developing, marketing and selling products, software, TeleCare, and mHealth solutions particularly adapted for seniors since the last 38 years.
The newly unveiled device boasts a 3.2 inch touch screen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and a 5 mega pixel camera on the back. A slide out keypad is provided with large keys for easy dialing. The device is also equipped with a special user interface that delivers all the Twitter, Facebook updates, and Emails to Inbox as an SMS. The Doro Experience software provides the family members with full control over the web. With this family members can access and manage the device remotely. The task that can be performed remotely includes creating reminders, fixing appointment with doctor, etc.
The Doro PhoneEasy 740 features a 3G radio and an emergency button with GPS location. 512 MB of RAM along with 4 GB of internal memory is also provided. The device features Bluetooth, microSD card, Wi Fi internet access and 3G data as connectivity options. The emergency call button can dial or send a text message to 5 numbers stored on the handset when pressed. PhoneEasy 740 includes the HD voice for calling, a charging cradle, torch-light and an app that uses camera as a magnifying glass while reading.
Many other pre-installed apps are available that allow senior people to use advanced Internet services. The Doro PhoneEasy 740 will be priced at around 99 dollars and it is expected to be commercially available in the summer of 2012.
