Motorola RAZR D1 vs RAZR D3 – Compare Specs & Features


Motorola Mobility expanded its RAZR lineup with two new android based devices named RAZR D1 and RAZR D3. Motorola announced these smartphones on 13th March ahead of Galaxy S4 launch event. The newest RAZR family members look like the RAZR M. These are mid-range handsets with long battery life and advanced cameras. Initially, they will be accessible only in Brazil. The company has not provided any information regarding the release plans for other countries. Currently, the dual-SIM version of RAZR D1 is available for purchase online at for R$ 549 while the single SIM version and RAZR D3 will be available in the coming weeks. The D3 will come with a price tag of R$ 799.

Few specs are same in RAZR D1 and RAZR D3. The D1 and the D3 have 1GB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage that can be expandable up to 32GB with the help of a microSD card. They come in dual & single SIM variants and based on Google Android 4.1, Jelly Bean operating system. Both of them will be upgradable to the latest version of Android in future. These devices include Circles widget of Motorola, which allows quick access to news, weather conditions, time, etc.

Both the devices allow users to access Google Play and Google services, including Google Now that provides real-time information about the traffic, football score, weather, flights and events, etc. They have powerful and long-lasting battery. Users can even improve battery life further with a Motorola application called Smart Actions. Connectivity features of the phones are 3G, HSPA, Wi-Fi, WI-FI Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR, GPS and USB 2.0 HS. The D3 also supports WiFi Direct, and NFC.

The smaller sibling, RAZR D1 features a 3.5-inch LCD display with HVGA resolution (320 x 480 pixels). The weight and dimensions of the device are 110 g and 59 x 110 x 10.99 mm respectively. It is powered by single core processor running at a clock speed of 1GHz. As it is a low-end phone, there is no front facing camera. The rear facing camera is of 5MP with autofocus, BSI and HDR.

BSI allows users to take great pictures in low light environments, whereas HDR lets users to capture images that have widely varied areas of light and dark. The rear camera is capable to record DVD Quality (720 x 480) videos. It is equipped with 1785 mAh battery that can offer up to 12.5 hours of talk-time and up to 205 hours of standby time. It has various sensors like proximity, accelerometer and ambient light sensor. It comes with two model choices: with or without analogical and digital TV.

More powerful of the two, RAZR D3 has compact and stylish design. It includes 4 inches LCD display with scratch resistant Corning Glass and FWGA resolution (480 x 854 pixels). It weighs 120 g and measures 119.3 x 59.8 x 9.8 mm. It is packed with a dual core processor running at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. There are two cameras: front and rear. The front facing camera is of 1.2MP and the rear camera is of 8 MP with autofocus, flash, BSI and HDR. The rear camera is able to record 720p HD Video. The 2,000 mAH battery delivers amazing battery life. Different sensors of the handset are proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and E-compass.
