AT&T and Pantech together have launched a stylish budget friendly smartphone called the Pantech Renue. It has a very attractive body design that comes along with a touch-friendly interface. The best thing about this smartphone is the inclusion of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that makes the compact Pantech Renue a quick messaging device. The Pantech Renue is currently available for sale at a decent price of just $69.99 (excluding $50 mail-in rebate) with 2-year agreement. At present, it can be purchased either from AT&T authorized national retailers or online at att.com. Plus, the phone will be made available in AT&T company-owned retail stores and other authorized dealers from 7th October, 2012.

The Pantech Renue is a rectangle shaped device with rounded corners. It has a very glossy surface except the battery cover, which is made up of a rubbery material that is engraved with diagonal grooves. The handset measures a mere 3.89 x 2.49 x 0.47 inches in dimension, and so it can be easily fitted into your palms, pocket or wallet. Moreover, the device weighs just 128 grams, making it light in weight too. The device sports an impressive 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display having 320 x 240 pixels of resolution and support for 260,000 colors. The slide out QWERTY keyboard comprises four rows of oblong shaped keyboard buttons that makes typing even faster and comfortable. Plus, the Pantech Renue users can get one touch access to social media, messaging, pictures, music and games.
The Pantech Renue works on Pantech’s proprietary operating system based on Brew and it is powered by the single-core Qualcomm QSC 6270 processor. This dual SIM handset supports web browsing through the HTML browser. It also includes Bluetooth and micro USB as connectivity options. The device supports a 3 MP rear facing camera that has features like geotagging, exposure control, self-timer and digital zoom. Along with 256 MB RAM, the device offers 0.185 GB of internal memory storage capacity, which can be further expanded up to 32 GB via microSD slot.
Other features being offered by the Pantech Renue includes alarm, calendar, calculator, a unit converter, stop watch, timer, notepad, GPS support, 3.5mm headset jack, voice recorder, world clock, a sketch pad and a 1000 mAh standard lithium-ion battery that delivers around 3 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time. However, the device mainly lacks a Wi-Fi capability and a secondary camera. Above all, the Pantech Renue is a MIL Spec 810 G certified phone that has made the handset resistant to sand, dust, humidity, high and low temperatures, vibration and solar radiation.
The Renue is a true eco-friendly phone as it is made from 67% recycled materials. Plus, the packaging in which the phone comes is also made from 95% recycled paper that is printed with soy based inks. In addition to the eco-friendly design, the phone also comes with various “Green” features such as eco-lock screens, integrated event reminder alerts for Arbor Day & Earth Day, and the Power Saver app which enables the user to manage specific functions that utilizes the majority of power and this in turn would result in finest battery performance. Another interesting feature is that the phone comes with an ENERGY STAR 2.0 Certified charger, which delivers around 70% energy efficiency and limited standby power loss.
