Sony, one of the leading mobile phone manufacturers, has unveiled its much awaited international version of Xperia Ion smartphone in a press conference held in Taiwan. The Sony Xperia Ion was first introduced in January, 2012, with model number LT28at but it is an AT&T LTE version and designed only for the United States. The new Xperia Ion LT28i for Taiwan doesn’t have LTE connectivity and it will be the international GSM version of the handset. With this announcement, it seems that Sony is planning to bring Xperia Ion smartphone in the global market even though Sony has not announced the Xperia Ion LT28i for any other countries yet. Moreover, Sony has not made any official announcement about when Xperia Ion LT28i will enter the Taiwan market and for what price.
The stylish Xperia ion LT28i will have an impressive 4.6-inch HD touchscreen display with 720 x 1280 pixels of resolution and supported by Mobile BRAVIA technology. The touchscreen will feature multitouch up to 4 fingers. The device will be powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and a Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon Chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM. It will include 16GB of built-in memory along with a microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 32GB. Sadly, the device will run on an outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. It is expected that the OS will be upgraded to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later this year.
Xperia ion LT28i handset will measure 133 x 68 x 10.8 mm and weigh just 144 g. It will support a 12 Megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video capture facility at 30fps and 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Rear camera will support numerous features like LED flash, autofocus, touch focus, Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization, 3D sweep panorama, and video stabilizer. Other interesting features include a 3.5mm headset jack, 802.11 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, high speed HSDPA connectivity, micro USB 2.0, music player, 3D games, and internet facility. The device will be powered by a powerful 1900mAh battery which can provide up to 10 Hours of talk time and a standby time of up to 400 hours.
