Those who still think 2012 Mercedes Benz GL-Class as a luxury large SUV, they may not have seen the 2013 model of the vehicle. The second-generation GL-class three-row SUV has been launched by Mercedes-Benz. For 2013, Mercedes GL gets some minor exterior styling updates, enhanced interior room and standard features as well as two new turbocharged engines. The German automaker’s full-size sport-utility was first debuted at 2012 New York Auto Show. This luxury comes with lots of space for seven passengers in a 2-3-2 layout, so it is an excellent car for large families. Users of this car can use it for both on-road and off-road. 2013 Mercedes GL is expected to hit the US and UK market in September 2012 and in early 2013 respectively.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG got introduction in April at the New York Auto Show. The new Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG is similar to the Mercedes-Benz M-Class models, ML63 AMG and offers same hand-built, direct-injection, twin-turbo, and 5.5-liter V-8 engine. The seven seater car will be launched in Europe later this year and in US for early 2013. It is equipped with enhanced double-width grille and new LED daytime running lights. The backside of the car also comes with little bit changes. It comes with more aggressive front bumper offering unique daytime running lights, enlarged air intakes, chrome detailing and pumped fenders.
Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG is equipped with 5.5L V8 biturbo petrol engine that delivers 550 bhp power and peak torque of 760 Nm. The model can run 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds and goes up to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph. All-wheel drive is normal because it comes with AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission offering the choices of three specially-tailored driving modes – C (comfort), S (sport) and M (manual). The C Mode stands for Controlled Efficiency, which starts the car in second gear as well as offers engine stop-start feature; S stands for Sport, which trenches the eco-program for faster shifts while M stands for manual setting. There are new reports about the new compact SUV in the Mercedes-Benz family, that carmaker will launch a competitor for BMW’s X1 and Audi’s Q3 in the forthcoming years. Mercedes-Benz has apparently provided a name to its future compact-sized crossover in accordance with the new nomenclature starting 2015. New Mercedes GLA Compact SUV will be the 4th addition to the A-Class/B-Class lineup and will be based on the latest MFA platform, even used by the upcoming CLA 4-door coupe. GLC was the first serial production title of the X 156 project; however, it seems that name is now set aside for the 2nd generation of the C-Class based SUV, which loses the present name GLK.

According to Britain’s Car Magazine, the A-Class SUV will be tagged the GLA after the German company’s new, however, quite puzzling nomenclature that will observe the letter “G” being used as the new suffix for crossovers and SUVs. This new model is light weighted as compared to the regular SL model. It’s amazing to know that new SL 63 weighs only 1,845kg. With the aggressive look, the car is efficient enough to run at higher speed of 0 to 60 mph in only 4.1 seconds and attains a top speed of 186 mph.
